2 Writing: events in my life Before you start 1.Word learning Read the following sentences and figure out the meaning of the color words according to the context. 1.When you feel tired of working in the garden for ages, it is tiresome. 2. After they angirly argued over the matter, there was an awkward silence between them.

3 This is an awkard question to work out in such a short time. They have to find out a proper way. 3.The audience kept applauding long after the curtain came down. 4. The old man had worked at the computer for so long that he felt a little dizzy and sick. 5. They made a clumsy presentation to the class for both of them were weak at English.

4 2. Read the three drafts. Which one is the most interesting. The draft C is the most interesting.

5 3. Let’s read and find out why Draft C is the most interesting. Please find some examples. 1. Outline A. Effective introductory 1. May 24, 2005 will live in my mind forever.( summary sentence) 2. The day started to go wrong the instant I left home. 3. But the trouble was only just beginning.

May 24, 2005 has left a deep impression on my mind. 2. But the trouble was only just beginning. This was the first sign of terrible things occurring.

11 3. The more I looked down, the redder my face became. I was burning with shame. 4. It came as no surprise that I was last in the competition. 5. Even then, my troubles were not over. The final horror came. 6.I heard a booming voice behind me. 7. What a clumsy end to an awful day!
