2 2 main characteristics are:  uncontrolled growth of abnormal cells in the human body and  the ability of these cells to migrate from the original site and spread to distant sites

4  Half of people with cancer survive at least 10 years  In 2010 2 million people were living with cancer; there will be 4 million by 2030  50% increase in suspected cancer referrals since 2009/10  The NHS has a £30bn funding gap between 2013/14 and 2020

10  Five year forward view – what might this mean for cancer?  Cancer is one of 10 priority areas in the NHS England Business plan  Improvements in outcomes will require action on three fronts: 1.Better prevention 2.Swifter access to diagnosis 3.Better treatment and care for all those diagnosed with cancer

13  What do they do?  Consist of Core team members Physician, Surgeon, Radiologist, Pathologist, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Oncologist, Research Nurse, Palliative Care.  Individualised patient care.  Meet weekly to decide treatment plan

16  A nominated individual with specialised knowledge of a specific disease and cancer who can provide support to patients and their carers, during the malignant disease rapid diagnosis pathway and co-ordinate further ongoing care and/or treatment.
