5 4 I’d like a sandwich. a glass of milk. a biscuit. a cup of tea. I’d like some bread. some milk. some toast. some tea.

6 5 13.1. A / An and Some Countable nouns: a + singular countable noun. sandwich, glass and biscuit are countable nouns. We can count them: one sandwich, two sandwiches, three sandwiches… Countable nouns can be singular or plural. Uncountable nouns: some + singular uncountable noun. milk, bread and toast are uncountable nouns. We cannot count them: We cannot say: one milk, two breads, three toasts… Uncountable nouns are always singular.

9 8 13.2. Any / Some *** some in positive sentences but any in questions and negative sentences: I’ve got some bananas.Are there any oranges? There is some sugar. They haven’t got any bread.
