2. Foreshadowing example: Divergent
At the beginning of the novel, Tris spends a lot of time explaining that she doesn’t fit in with the other Abnegations—selflessness isn’t something that comes naturally to her. She also mentions several times how amazed she is by the Dauntless.
These early thoughts foreshadow her choice to leave Abnegation and join the Dauntless for initiation.
