3. Choosing the right materials: Watercolor painting should always be done on paper that accepts wet media. Watercolor paper comes in pads, blocks and sheets. The recommended weights are 140 lb. We are using 90 lb. Watercolor brushes – Use brushes that will hold the water, brushes that are made for watercolor paints – Sable (First Choice) – Synthetic (Also Good Choice)

4. Watercolor Techniques Wet-on-Wet – Wet the surface of the paper and use a wet brush Wet-on-Dry – Dry surface and a wet brush (less blending) Wash – Watercolor that is thinned with water so that it just has a little color

5. Watercolor - FYI Don’t use the white that comes with watercolor. This is gouache and is opaque. To create white, use rubber cement or fluid masking (frisket).
