3 Introduction Our role  To contribute to the effective development of statistical capacity and systems in African countries for the provision of timely and reliable data for policy formulation, implementation, evaluation and the monitoring of progress toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Poverty Reduction Strategies (PRSs).  To support and enhance the Bank’s operational effectiveness systematically through in country programming and project cycle activities with the objective of mainstreaming results measurement in Bank operations and ensuring inclusion of monitoring and evaluation (M&E) components.

5 Needs Assessment on Governance Indicators Findings;  Include Most relevant indicators in the database  Raise the profile of governance indicators through publication and use.  Carry out capacity building for governance statisticians in member countries  Integrate the collection and dissemination of governance indicators in the national statistical system

10 Conclusion  Need to improve the collection, dissemination and use of governance indicators  Need to identify a core set governance indicators to regularly produced and disseminated  The priority and focus for the Bank is the economic and financial governance indicators  National Statistics Office (NSO) should be encouraged to build capacity in the collection and dissemination of governance indicators in the national statistical system
