2 Non-fiction texts What do we mean by non-fiction texts?
Some examples are; newspaper and magazine articles, travel writing, autobiographies and cartoons A lot of non-fiction texts use persuasive writing Persuasive writing means writers expressing their own view point or opinion

3 So, how do they do it! Some techniques;
Providing evidence to support their case Creating a structure to their argument Offering personal experiences and knowledge to support their case Making it sound like the logical conclusion that everyone must agree with

4 So, how do they do it! By using style and language
Creating a sense of a personal ‘voice’, so the reader can relate to the argument on a human level Language that appeals to the readers emotions Colloquial language, to bring the argument down to earth Tone, such as mocking, scornful, sarcastic, angry or bitter Loaded questions, creating the impression that the reader is being invited to think for him/herself
