2  With the verb iubet, someone orders someone to do something. In Latin, both the person who is ordered and what they’re ordered to do is in the accusative case.  Ancillas iubet cistas in raedā ponere.  He orders the slave women to place the chests in the carriage.  The slave women are the people being ordered and they are being ordered to place the chests. Therefore, slave women and chests are both accusative.

3  This accusative and infinitive construction is also found with the verb doceo.  In other words, you teach someone to do something. The someone and something are in the accusative.  Aurelia Corneliam villam curare docet.  Aurelia teaches Cornelia to take care of the farmhouse.

4  As we studied with infinitives, there are four conjugations in Latin. 1 st conjugation  portare, always ends in –are 2 nd conjugation  docēre, always ends in –ēre 3 rd conjugation  ponere, always ends in -ere 3 rd io conjugation  capio, capere, 1 st principal part ends in io and 2 nd ends in –ere 4 th conjugation  audio, audire, always ends in -ire

8  3 rd conjugation  gero, gerere  Take the -o off of the 1 st principal part, then you will add an o in 1 st singular, i in 2 nd and 3 rd singular and 1 st and 2 nd plural and u in 3 rd plural.
