Example of how students use Coach’s Eye

Question: How did I get involved with Coach’s Eye? Answer: Networking at a PD. By looking at this, our preps discovered how to provide feedback and compare skills.

Why do I use Coach’s Eye? I have many answers to this question: 1.Student feedback – by looking at their video, whether it would be individually or in a group situation, the student can visually see how they look, where and what they can improve on and what is working for them. Feedback needs to be constructive when analysing the skill. 2.Peer assessment – students can work together and provide individual feedback to each other. This promotes students working together, breaking down the skills and sharing their own opinions of their learnings. By using a video analysis, students can follow a rubrics when performing peer assessment. 3.Self assessment – as above, although students work on their own and can complete a rubrics on how they think they went.

Why do I use Coach’s Eye? 4. Reports – during report writing, as we all know, we require evidence to back our comments. Coach’s Eye is able to do this by converting and saving your video onto your camera roll and therefore you’ll have it there as evidence when writing reports. The rubrics will also be helpful when commenting on feedback. 5. Students can compare with others – here are two examples, one with recording and one with just the video/music.

How often do I use Coach’s Eye? I use the app during every unit, not every lesson as this would not be possible. Students who have their own iPads bring them when they’re asked. I recommend that all year levels can use this app, as it is easy to use.
