Interactive Multimedia Data Driven ePortfolio Web Design Course Intro Textbooks Requirements Web Supports Course Environment

Jumpstart The syllabus for this course is delivered by an Instructional Management System (IMS) called Serf. The Jumpstart pamphlet gets you started logging on to Serf.

Textbooks The syllabus recommends textbooks that you may wish to purchase for use in this course. Whether to buy these books is totally your choice. The syllabus is rich in online resources that may enable you to complete the course without buying a printed textbook.

Requirements At any time when logged on to Serf, you can see a summary of the course requirements. Scroll down to the control panel, and choose the option to Inspect Assignments.

Cooperative Learning You have the option of forming teams to work on your projects in this course. The teams form the heart of a cooperative learning model. You log your contributions to the team individually via Serf. You present your team’s project together at the end of the course.

ePortfolio Project In ePortfolio Web Design, students form teams according to their chosen field and conduct research to discover the professional standards appropriate for this career. Informed by this research, the team designs a Web-based ePortfolio framework and presents it for critique and discussion by the entire class. Then each member of the team creates an ePortfolio Web site based on this framework.

ePortfolio Purpose The threefold purpose of the portfolio is to enable candidates to: demontrate the extent to which they meet the standards; decide what should be their priorities for professional development; and learn to maintain this awareness throughout their careers.

Top Secret Project In Data Driven Web design, we will: Create a database of Top Secret users. Create a login form that permits only Top Secret users to log in. Deny access to certain pages if users are not logged in. Permit only authorized users to access data-driven Web pages.

Top Secret Objectives Design a relational database. Create a database connection string. Display a data table onscreen. Conduct a data-driven survey through Web forms. Generate master/detail page sets. Create a recordset navigation bar. Make a database search form.

Introductions Students will spend a minute or two introducing themselves and explaining what their goals are for enrolling in this course.

Forum Assignment Please write a message in the Serf discussion forum saying what kind of project you might be interested in. To enter the forum, log on to Serf, scroll down to the control panel, and choose Discussion Forums.

Your OET Network Space This course has a shared space on the OET network that gives you an H: drive on the local network. The logon name is multimedia. The password is local account. On the H: drive, you must create a folder using your last name as the folder name. Do not put anything in any other folders on the H: drive.
