2 TractAir – Company history and background
Established 25 years ago Family business based in East Yorkshire Specialists in air brake systems for OEM and retro-fit Suppliers to CNH, John Deere, McCormick, Landini, Massey Fergusson, SDF etc Also involved in Industrial compressors and specialist rail vehicle brake systems ISO Accredited

3 Tractor Usage Modern tractors are capable of high speeds – 50k is becoming the norm Must be quick and safe to drive on roads Must work in the field with maximum soil protection All with minimum tyre wear and fuel consumption

4 Tractor Usage As the link between machine and surface (field/road), the tyre must fulfil multifunctional tasks - On the road, it must be hard with low wear - possible only with high tyre pressure - In the field, it must be supple and soft, with good grip - possible only with low tyre pressure Two essentially conflicting requirements!

5 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Fuel consumption
In the field Increased slip Tractor is constantly climbing out of a rut On the road Increased tyre deformation creates heat Reduced effective diameter reduces gearing and speed

6 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Fuel consumption
Depth of rut: + 0.4 inches depth = + 10 % diesel consumption

7 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Fuel consumption

8 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Fuel consumption
Testing carried out by Trellebourg / Farmers Guardian

9 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Tyre Wear
With insufficient tyre pressure : Incorrect tyre contact wears lugs Excessive heat buildup damages tyre Excessive flex causes cracking and damage

10 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Tyre Wear

11 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Compaction
With excessive tyre pressure: Deep ruts Deep soil damage Poor drainage Poor root penetration Reduced yield

12 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Compaction

13 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Compaction

BEFORE CTIS WITH CTIS

16 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Wheel Slip and Traction
Correlation between Traction, Tyre Pressure and Slip

17 Why correct tyre pressures are important – Other advantages
Better self cleaning of tyre tread Improved operator comfort Reduced damage from vibration Improved stability and cornering Longer working season

18 Why use TractAir CTIS? Farmers typically don’t change pressures:
Tractor tyres are slow to change pressures using traditional methods and standard valves Compressed air is not generally available in the field Time is always precious The advantages are not always understood The driver may not be the person paying for fuel and tyres!

19 TractAir CTIS Off tractor systems – Airbox Mobile
Alter two tyres at a time with auto inflation/deflation Set pressure on integrated gauges All stored in tough aluminium case

20 TractAir CTIS Fully integrated system – Airbox Drive
Fully fitted with control in cab Change pressure while on the move Dedicated control box or ISOBUS integrated

21 TractAir CTIS Fully integrated system – Airbox Drive
External pipework which can be stowed away Works with single, dual and triple wheels

22 TractAir CTIS Fully integrated system – Airbox Radial
Internal rear union fits over row-crop axles Maintenance free Easy to fit Front external connections can be added
