3. Matthew 5:13-16 You are the salt of the earth, but if the salt loses its savor, with what shall it be salted? It is no longer good for anything, but to be thrown out and to be trodden underfoot by men. (14) You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. (15) Nor do men light a lamp and put it under the grain-measure, but on a lampstand. And it gives light to all who are in the house. (16) Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven.

4. Salt (1) What makes salt, salt? ◦ Its savory nature and how it makes good flavor ◦ Savory is good, salt is treasured, salt is appreciated, salt is necessary Christians being salt of the earth ◦ An important message Jesus teaches ◦ As agent of “savory taste” to world

5. Salt (2) When we are without good characters or contributions to the world, it is like salt without the savory taste. “Salt” without the savory taste can’t be salt, so a “Christian” can’t be a Christian without Christianly attributes

8. We as Salt and Light (1) To Others as Witness ◦ Sense of responsibility ◦ Principled living ◦ Courage To Self in Honesty ◦ People see, don’t like hypocrites ◦ Your life shows what you are

9. We as Salt and Light (2) To the Father we glorify ◦ We affect the world as salt and as light ◦ We are the agent of glorification of God
