Matthew 5:11-16

" Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

 Blessed when you are accused falsely

Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you, and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake. Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven, For in like manner their fathers did to the prophets.

Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God." 12 And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon him, seized him, and brought him to the council. 13 They also set up false witnesses who said, " This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law;

for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us."

 Blessed when you are accused falsely  V.12 - Rejoice

So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus as the Christ.

" If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. Remember the word that I said to you, 'A servant is not greater than his master. ' If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. If they kept My word, they will keep yours also.

But all these things they will do to you for My name's sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me.

" You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.

 Who is the salt of the earth? “You” – the Christian

Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

 Who is the salt of the earth? “You” – the Christian “Flavor” - faithfulness

Brethren, if anyone among you wanders from the truth, and someone turns him back, let him know that he who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death and cover a multitude of sins.

 Who is the salt of the earth? “You” – the Christian “Flavor” - faithfulness  A world without the faithful

How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written:" How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!"

What does it mean to be the “light”? The light repels darkness.

What does it mean to be the “light”? The light repels darkness. Spiritual light repels spiritual darkness that is to say it repels sin. Spiritual light gives light to all who obey.

Why be light to the world? Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:16

Why be light to the world? " Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven. Matthew 10:32-33

Are you salt that’s lost its flavor? Are you the light of the world or are you hiding it from the world?
