2 Student Teacher Orientation Spring 2012 What’s New Number of Paper Based Test administrations reduced -3 sessions for 2011-2012 testing year Fixed Administration CAT Exams-Offered 6 times per year Art EC-12, Business 6-12, Chemistry 8-12, ESL/Generalist EC-6, Physical Science 8-12, Technology Apps EC-12, Theater EC-12, Reminders: -Test admission ticket will no longer be mailed. -Score reports will not be mailed. 2College of Education

3 Student Teacher Orientation Fall 2010 What’s New The State of Texas is complying with a Federal mandate that requires new elementary teachers to show competency in all subject areas to comply with the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB). For Texas teachers, this requires passing a Generalist exam (EC-6, 4-8). 4 Student Teacher Orientation Fall 2010 What’s New The State of Texas will now require all candidates seeking a standard classroom teaching certificate to pass the PPR EC-12 beginning September 1, 2011 Who does this impact: -Students admitted to Teacher Education before February 16, 2011 -Students who previously had approval for PPR EC-6, PPR 4-8, or PPR 8-12 and did not pass that exam by August 31, 2011, or those who did not request to switch to PPR EC-12 4College of Education Student Teacher Orientation Spring 2012

5 Student Teacher Orientation Fall 2010 What’s New Updated security measures at test centers Beginning in September 2011, PBT and CAT test centers will begin fingerprinting and photographing all test takers as confirmation of their identity. As this will take additional time during check-in, all test takers are advised to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to the test start time. Test takers refusing to comply with these security measures will be dismissed from the testing center and will forfeit all test fees. 5College of Education Student Teacher Orientation Spring 2012
