1 Extreme poverty & poor mental health: no pietism but listening each one Is this dignified life ? Is the financial crisis the only reason ? Is it a phenomenon of only a few people ? This is a visible part of an invisible phenomenon. Its causes need to be treated: people and families suffer of this interaction of social & health problems, where one reinforce the other, creating a complex situation. The fundamental rights of these people – in their context - become more and more difficult to guarantee to people in a situation of extreme poverty. The structural crisis today is in the European society. It has produced and it continues to produce serious consequences especially in relation to social injustices and inequalities redistribution of resources, barriers to access in basic rights (health – housing – job) and of rationalization of social protection resources and programs

2 Extreme poverty & poor mental health: no charity but justice & right Mental health problems often result in situations and reduce the person in conditions of chronic precariousness, destroy relationships & social interaction with other s. Mental health & extreme poverty are interlinked and it’s important - to underline causes and factors involved in deterioration of this situation - to define coherent strategies, promoting projects – programs - co-working at all levels How to promote and facilitate access of homeless to health/mental health services and of workers in social & health services to homeless people meeting where they are ?... Workers, Administrators and political body are more & more frequently confronted with these complex problems (ethic, right, health, citizen, security…) caused by the presence of the homeless and mentally ill. We need to change approach and work together.

3 Extreme poverty & poor mental health: no assistance but participation DEBATE & PRIORITIES WHY this permanent gap between fundamental rights declarations (health – housing – job) and access to services ? HOW to reduce the barriers and difficulty that don't allow the people in situation of great precariousness to access basic services, especially in a period of rationalization and reduction of the same services? To live in health & dignity also for undocumented migrants this is our & their HOPE ! how to heal their invisible wounds on the streets and/or in the segregation centres ? MIGRANTS as RESOURCE : Christian Dustmann and Tommaso Frattini from UCL reveals on Report of 2013 that the economic impact of new migrants, entrants since 2000 it made a net contribution of £ 25 billion (€ 30 miliards)
