2 Born in Syracuse, New York – 1929 (June 25 th ) Moved to Germany when he was 6 – Always dreamed of moving back to America Moved back to New York in 1952 to work for New York Times Currently lives in Massachusetts with his wife, two children, and his cat

3 From elementary to high school, attended in Germany Graduated from the prestigious art school, Akademie der bildenden Künste

4 Came from always being in the woods with his father His themes are usually drawn from his love of nature which stems from his personal experiences Books offer children the opportunity to learn about the world around them and give them stimulating and lasting experiences
