2 Village of Cashton Village History – Rural Farming Community Village Cashton – State Highway 27 Bypass Scenic Bluffs Healthcare Center The Village has experienced growth in the Cashton Green’s Energy Park – Organic Valley In 2014 the Village received a CDBG Planning Grant to develop a Downtown Revitalization Plan

3 Improvements Taking Place In Cashton In 2016 the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be constructing a roundabout at the St. Hwy. 33/St. Hwy. 27 intersection

11 Market Analysis, Interviews, Surveys, etc. Market Analysis Strengths of Cashton: – Agriculture, Forestry, Transportation, Education, Health Services Sectors Market Analysis Weaknesses of Cashton: – Arts, Entertainment, Recreation, Accommodation, Food Service, Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate Sectors What Consumers Indicated: – More retail stores (more variety) would benefit Cashton – More food and dining opportunities and lodging are needed What Businesses Indicated: “We need more people in the downtown” “We need to stop sending people out of town”

12 Plan Goals Create a quaint and vibrant downtown by aesthetically enhancing the built environment to attract new businesses and visitors to Cashton and increase opportunities for existing downtown businesses to grow. Create opportunities to better connect residents, businesses, and tourists to the Amish community/ Amish goods and additional agricultural resources in and around Cashton. Promote downtown Cashton and identify assistance programs/resources to assist new and/or existing businesses in Downtown Cashton. Improve pedestrian and vehicle facilities (intersections, pavement marking, signage, etc.) to increase vehicle and pedestrian safety in the downtown area.

13 Plan Recommendations Establish a Farmer’s Market in Cashton A downtown Farmer’s Market would provide an outlet for Amish goods and Amish interaction with local businesses. It would also serve as an inexpensive outlet for local “crafters” or entrepreneurs to sell or gain exposure to their products. In addition, it would serve as a regular event that would bring people to downtown Cashton and help generate “traffic” in the downtown area.
