Perambulatory Clauses Describes the background information Draws on old documents/prior resolutions Discusses old actions/solutions/outcomes Reflects general opinions States facts and figures

Perambulatory Clauses Alarmed by Having adopted Noting with approval Confident Emphasizing Seeking Reaffirming Further recalling

Operative Clauses Offers new solutions for topics Advises particular actions Provides recommendations to the Security Council Gives general recommendations

Operative Clauses Accepts Notes Reaffirms Regrets Designates Considers Supports Further proclaims

The beginning of a resolution… Committee: General Assembly Issue: Nuclear Weapons Proliferation Submitters: United States, United Kingdom, Japan, France, Spain Start off with your committee name followed by a comma (,) “The General Assembly,”….

The basics Start with perambulatory clauses and end each phrase with a comma (,) and italicize the first word Italicize the first word in EVERY phrase and number each clause For operative clauses you end each phrase with a semi-colon (;) except for the last phrase which ends with a period (.)
