Khan used strict military leadership and demanded absolute loyalty He would destroy whole villages that tried to rebel Those conquered were allowed to keep and practice cultural traditions as long but paid tribute and vowed loyalty to Mongols Brutally defeated the Russians in Kiev and the Arabs in the Abbasid Empire by destroying Baghdad

33 38 33 MONGOL CHINA G. Khan died before China was conquered His son Ogadi takes over northern China in 1234 His Grandson Kublai Khan ruled over China after conquering it all in 1279. He started the Yuan Dynasty He did not want Mongols to be absorbed into Chinese Culture Only allowed Mongols to be in the military China began to get mixed culture from expanded trade

34 39 This is the first time China is united in 300 years The mongols open up China to trade with places like Europe “Pax Mongolia” supported trade along silk road 34
