3 TVAN Technical Training Health Physics (RADCON) Initial Training Program HPT001.023 Revision 3 Page 44 of 50 DAC, DACF, %DAC and DAC-hours Derived Air Concentration (DAC) – concentration of a given radionuclide in air, which if breathed by the reference man for a working year of 2000 hours under conditions of light work, results in an intake of one ALI, annual limit on intake. DAC Fraction (DACF) – the fraction of the DAC value that is present. It is calculated by dividing air activity by the limit. %DAC – the percentage of the DAC value that is present. DAC-hour – indicates the amount of exposure. It is calculated by multiplying the DACF or the %DAC by the time in the area.
