1 Matching Graphs to Situations: Interpreting Graphs Set the PPT up to play as a slideshow. Click “slideshow” on tool bar above and then “from beginning” This will NOT work on a device! Use a laptop or desktop with PowerPoint! Any questions… use Edmodo! Ms.Susinno – PPT inspired by Mrs. G-K Cool The Graphy Doodle Game!

2 Name Date Roy G Biv Ex) Z. J. A. K. B. L. C. M. D. N. E. O. F. P. G. Q. H. R. I. S. Set up a sheet of paper like this: Answers will be entered in blue, red and green colored pencil

3 The following slides represent situations presented in graphic form. Read the situation carefully and decide which graph curve fits the situation best. Pay close attention to the independent and dependent variables to see which curve makes the MOST sense.

4 On the following slides: 1 is the blue curve 2 is the green curve 3 is the red curve 1 3 2 Graph Z Let’s try an example! The scenario: Ms. Susinno riding a skateboard down a hill Examine the x axis. In this case : As the slope (steepness) of hill increases THINK! What will happen to Ms. Susinno’s SPEED (the dependent variable in this example) as the slope increases? Slope of hill Speed of skateboard THAT’S RIGHT! Ms. Susinno will go faster down a steeper slope or “ as the slope of the hill increases, speed of skateboard increases.” This is a direct relationship! Name Date Roy G Biv Z 1 Which line shows that? LINE 1! Record your answer in the appropriate color. EXAMPLE
