Centriole By: JT Blodgett and Joe Ziegler

2 Structure and Location
Centrioles are found in animal cells They are paired organelles found near the nucleus in the centrosome They are set up in a way so that two centrioles are right angles to each other One centriole consist of nine bundles of microtubules in a single ring

3 Functions The function of the centriole is it plays a substantial part in cell division For example, centrioles and other parts of the centrosome are duplicated during interphase of an animal cell

4 What kind of cells have centrioles?
Centrioles are only found in animal cells They are found in pairs

5 This is the process of cell division
This is the process of cell division. The oval shaped figures above are centrosomes, the centrioles are inside.

7 Fun Facts!!!!!!!!!! The centrosome is also called the “microtubule organizing center” During animal cell division, the centrosome splits and centrioles clone themselves This results in two centrosomes with their own pair of centrioles Plant cells centrosomes function like animal centrosomes, however, they do not have centrioles.
