1 Surface Water Drill: List as many examples of surface water as you can? Objectives: SWBAT diagram portions of rivers and river systems in order to understand how water moves across land.

2 Vocabulary Tributary: A smaller body of water that flows into another.
Similar: Contribute: add to the total. Example: Codorus creek is a tributary of Lake Codorus. River: A large stream of water that flows into a lake or ocean. Ex: The Mississippi River River System: All of the streams and channels that drain into a particular river.

How do river systems and watersheds play a part in the water cycle? Why are scientists concerned about runoff? During what seasons would runoff be increased?

9 Google Earth Open Google Earth.
On the “Fly To” tab type in, “Wrightsville, PA”. Note the elevation in your journal. Zoom in and “look up” Follow the Susquehanna River until you reach the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Note the elevation. ***Describe your trip in your journal Discuss changes you observe in elevation, terrain, shape, and direction.
