2. Function
The endocrine system regulates the body by forming or giving off hormones into the bloodstream.
The endocrine system also controls reproduction, growth, tissue function, mood, and your metabolism.

3. Works with Other Body Systems
The endocrine system works with the nervous system by promoting normal development of the nervous system.
The endocrine system also works with the circulatory system by promoting blood vessel development and blood pressure control.
The endocrine system produces hormones important to the reproductive system.

4. Pituitary Gland
The pituitary gland is attached to the hypothalamus of the brain.
The pituitary gland hormone affects a large range of body activities. This range reaches from growth to reproduction.

5. Pineal Gland The pineal gland produces melatonin.
Melatonin is a hormone that acts as a clock for our body by regulating wake and sleep patterns.

6. Thyroid Gland The thyroid gland is well supplied with blood vessels.
The thyroid gland produces hormones that regulate metabolism and control the uptake of calcium by bones.
The parathyroid glands are attached to the thyroid gland and help control
calcium levels in the body.

7. Thymus
The thymus produces hormones that are made to control the production of certain infection-fighting cells.

8. Adrenal Gland The adrenal gland creates a variety of hormones.
Some hormones in the adrenal gland help stabilize blood sugar levels and the more critical hormones help your body adapt to physical and emotional stress.

9. Kidneys Kidneys filter the blood and make urine.
The kidneys produce erythropoietin, which stimulates red blood cell production.
Kidneys produce renin, a hormone that helps regulate blood pressure.

10. Pancreas
With in the pancreas there are millions of tiny groups or clusters of the islets of langerhans. Also known as endocrine tissue.
Cells that form the islets hormones help regulate sugar levels in the bloodstream.

11. Ovaries Ovaries form hormones known as estrogen and progesterone.
These hormones help control the female reproduction cycle.
