2 Continental Drift Earth’s crust is broken up into plates which float around on magma and bump into each other. Plates move at a rate of between ½ to 4 inches annually

8 Continental Drift Continental Drift Plates come together or spread apart at plate boundries. 1.Convergence- when 2 plates come together, forming mountains 2.Subduction- when 1plate slides under the other 3.Divergence- when magma rises to the surface, creating new ocean floor- sea floor spreading 4.Transform- when 2 plates slide against each other- fault line 5.Continental rift- when a continent is pulled apart

9 Assignment (25 Points)- Due Thursday Using information from today draw each type of plate boundry. Make sure to label each type of boundry.
