2 Title The title is the name of the article. An article will have a title that catches the reader’s interest.

3 Author’s Name The person who wrote the article. Usually located on the first page.

4 Subtitle An article may have a subtitle, a secondary title that tells you more about the article.

5 Headings Words or phrases used to break up the text of an article into sections. Often printed in a size or color intended to stand out. You can sometimes outline the main points of an article by listing the headings.

6 Illustrations Many articles are illustrated with artwork, photographs, maps, graphs, and tables.

7 Captions Brief printed explanations by the illustrations

8 Timeline A visual representation of a series of events, listed in chronological order, that relate to the article in some way.
