4 Membership Requirements Must attend: - at least 2 of 3 active meetings - Elections (Active Meeting 3 on 10/29) - Initiation (11/15) Excused absences will be granted only if you email the Secretary Andrea La Greca (alagreca@purdue.edu) before the event Must fulfill 3 hours of community service by: - Meeting with your buddy 3x - Tutoring for 3 hours - Attending XE Community Service Event- Boo at the Zoo - Submitting an Individual Service Hours Form (on Purdue XE website)

6 XE Tutoring Sign-up for all courses you would be comfortable tutoring Not a commitment to regular tutoring How it works: XE will get a request for a tutor Tutors will be matched based on the list generated from tonight’s meeting Tutor 3 hours = Semester’s worth of community service! SIGN UP TONIGHT!

7 CE Buddy Program What is the CE Buddy Program? Pair up civil engineering sophomores with XE members Pairs based on gender, emphasis, and interests You will meet your buddy at the Buddy Kick-Off Ice Cream Social! Option to attend XE-organized buddy social events or meet on your own

8 Our Goals as Buddies Pass on knowledge Help build their academic and professional careers Help them to have success and lead them to Chi Epsilon Encourage them to have a positive attitude Help them get involved in the School of Civil Engineering Instill confidence in them

Complete the 5-minute online survey to sign-up The survey will be emailed tonight and will be due on Friday 9/18 Meet 3x this semester Email Secretary Andrea La Greca (alagreca@purdue.edu) whenever you meet To sign up, fill out short online survey (survey link will be emailed after meeting)

11 FE Exam Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Examination o First step to be a licensed Professional Engineer o Take the exam your senior year (typically final semester) o Each engineering discipline has a varied list of topics Fancy news: Civils don’t have thermo on the exam o Takes roughly 6 hours and has 110 questions o Exam is taken on the computer Some Awesome Stats o National average passing rate for Civil is 71% o Purdue has a 92% passing rate!!
