There’s a lot out there Sometimes STEM is called “informal science” Many organizations are putting activities, tools and resources online A lot of activity right now at the state and regional levels, with more awareness of the value of afterschool and connecting what happens during the school day to afterschool Growing awareness youth engagement is key – and afterschool is great at engagement

3. Many groups have STEM Outreach Colleges and Universities Professional Organizations Public Offices – Forest Service, BLM, BPA … Environmental Organizations & places – Parks, preserves, wildlife refuges … STEM Content Specialists (for- or non-profit) – Museums and more …

4. Collaborating well You have the kids They have the content, program or expertise Open-ended conversation – “How can we bring these together?” – Do you need to help tailor the teaching? – Some programs need to build skills over time, with the same group of kids – doesn’t work so well with drop-ins. Could this be an issue?
