The EyePoint By: Nicolette Zak

Background Information  EyePoint was invented in 2007  EyePoint is an eye controlled computer mouse  Kumar invented the this mainly for the disabled  Works by allowing a computer user to control the mouse pointer with his/her eyes.

Technology  A camera is placed on the top of the computer  The user will use a “Look-Press-Look-Release” technique  The user will press a ‘Hotkey’  http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/usin gEyePoint.html http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/usin gEyePoint.html http://hci.stanford.edu/research/GUIDe/usin gEyePoint.html

Testing  The Balloon Test: Recorded for performance speed and error rate percentage  Consisted of 28 people  Subject would click on a red balloon  http://hci.stanford.edu/publications/200 7/chi253-kumar.pdf http://hci.stanford.edu/publications/200 7/chi253-kumar.pdf http://hci.stanford.edu/publications/200 7/chi253-kumar.pdf

Advantages  Feels more natural  Makes computers accessible for the disabled  Helps prevent long-term damage to a person’s hand joints, tendons, and nerves  This decreases the lag of moving the hand from the mouse to keyboard and vice versa frequently.

Disadvantages  From the Testing Results:  Comfort Level  The EyePoint is still being tested and is not on the market
