Globally…  Six in 10 girls avoid participating in fundamental life activities because of concerns about the way they look.  9 in 10 girls want to change something about the way they look Low body confidence stops girls…  Developing skills in activities they would enjoy  Voicing their opinions  Taking risks

7 page 7 WAGGGS’ aims for Free Being Me Alongside partnership aims to reach 3.5 million girls with quality programming that boosts their body confidence, we have WAGGGS-specific, internal aims for the project: 1. To increase and diversify WAGGGS' membership 2. To build leadership capacity of members, including Trainers and Peer Educators 3. To strengthen the quality of the Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting experience 4. To increase funding available to WAGGGS

17 page 17 Peer education to retain and attract young women What is peer education? Learning from others with backgrounds and/or age similar to their own. Why peer education for Free Being Me? Girls appreciate and are influenced in positive ways by their peers It is a fun way to learn It can give participants freedom to talk more freely, helping develop confidence Why do young women want to become peer educators? Rewarding opportunity to develop leadership skills Contribute to a modern and relevant issue Experience of running activities and being given responsibility – useful for future employment
