Its last voyage began in Beer Sheva and ended in Haifa. Fifty - four years after the locomotive disappeared, a worldwide campaign was launched to locate it and bring it back to the station in Beer - Sheva. And it worked. Almost entirely. The famous locomotive was sold in 1960 and melted. But such model locomotives continued to be used in Turkey up till 30 years ago and after many efforts an original steam locomotive came to Beersheba and stopped at the old Turkish train station. מדובר בקטר הקיטור האחרון של רכבת ישראל, שיצא בשנת 58 צפונה מתחנת באר שבע לחיפה - ושם נדם. חמישים-וארבע שנים לאחר שנעלמו עקבותיו של הקטר התשוש, נערך מבצע חובק עולם כדי לאתרו ולהחזירו אל התחנה בבאר-שבע. וזה הצליח. כמעט לגמרי. הקטר המפורסם נמכר למתיכים בשנת 1960. אך בטורקיה נסעו קטרים כאלה עד לפני 30 שנה. וכך החל המבצע הבינלאומי להשגת קטר מדגם כזה.. אחרי מאמצים רבים קטר קיטור מקורי הגיע לבאר שבע.
