4 WHAT DID THE CLIP TELL US ? There are two kinds of sources primary sources and secondary sources.

5 SOURCES ARE… …the things that historians use to find out about the past

6 PRIMARY SOURCES …are things that survive from the actual time being studied. They provide us with first hand or primary information about that time. Old diaries, photographs or pieces of pottery are all examples or primary sources.

7 SECONDARY SOURCES …are things that are made by people after the actual time being studied. They provide us with second-hand or secondary information about that time. School textbooks and documentaries on TV are examples or secondary sources.

8 TOP TIP! The only secondary sources are history books, biographies and documentaries. EVERYTHING else is a primary source!!
