They burn these because they believe it sends news to heaven on how the family did that prior year. Kitchen God God of wealth Preparing for New Year  People…… Buy new cloths Pay off all debts. Resolve all arguments. Take baths or showers to cleanse before the New Year. Parents, grandparents and other relatives, give gold and red envelopes to children with money inside them.

4 Held from January 21-Febuary 19. They have a parade, that is lead by the lion dancers. The Lion dancers are followed by very colorful acrobats, musicians, and other puppet like creatures. Loud noises are made with fireworks, firecrackers, colored rockets, and sparkling pinwheels, to warn off evil sprits for the New Year. People greet each other with Gong Xi, or Fa Cai Begins with the 1 st new moon of the lunar calendar. On the Chinese New Year day the children are encouraged to stay am till 12:00am, this is because, if the children do go to bed before then it symbolizes a short life. The celebration lasts 2 weeks.

In a small pan, boil water. 2. In a mixing bowl, add brown sugar and stir in boiling water to make a syrup. Let cool. 3. Add flour, egg and milk and stir to blend. 4. Knead the dough until smooth, then mix in chopped sweets. 5. Pour batter into a lightly greased 7" shallow cake pan. 6. Steam for about 45 minutes, or until edges move away from the pan. 7. 6  Also known as Grave Sweeping Day.  Is held on April 5th.  Ching means: pure and clean.  Ming means: brightness.  These meanings come together to make Ching Ming, which means Clean and Just.  Weed the area around tombstone.  Clean headstone.  Replace wilted flowers, with new fresh flowers.  Light incense to place around grave.  Burn imitation paper money.  Lay food in front of the grave as an offering to the spirits of the dead.  Whole Chicken and the head  Hard boiled eggs  Barbequed Pork (Cha shiu)  Roast Pork.  3 sets of chopsticks  3 Chinese wine cups
