2 LAND AND WATER The Earth is covered mostly by water. The large bodies of water are called oceans. The large areas of land are called the continents.

3 7 CONTINENTS There are 7 continents, and we’re going to look at all of them. They are: North America South America Europe Asia Africa Australia Antarctica

6 NORTH AMERICA FACTS North America is the continent that we live in. The weather is cold in the north, and warm in the south. Three large countries in North America are the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

7 SOUTH AMERICA

8 SOUTH AMERICA FACTS South America is a warm continent. It is right below North America. People in South America mostly speak Spanish. The largest country in South America is Brazil.

9 EUROPE

10 EUROPE FACTS There are many countries in Europe. People speak many different languages there. The weather is cold in the north and warm in the south, similar to our weather in North America.

12 ASIA FACTS Asia is the largest continent. It also has the most people living in it. China is a large country in Asia. Asia is in the northern hemisphere.

14 AFRICA FACTS Africa is the second-largest continent and it has the second- largest number of people living there. It is very warm, since the equator runs through it. Africa has many countries.

15 AUSTRALIA

16 AUSTRALIA FACTS Australia is the smallest continent. It is an island continent. The weather in Australia is the opposite of our weather in North America.

18 ANTARCTICA FACTS Antarctica is a very cold continent. It is located near the South Pole. No people permanently live in Antarctica, but there are many types of penguins living there.
