5 Activity Description Communicate messages to trading partners related to shipment contents, requests for shipment and status of shipment requests Efficiently support and automate the outsourcing of your logistics operations Communicate Shipping Messages and Updates with Trading Partners activity description: This activity is composed of: - Receiving and integrating demand to be shipped to end customers from trading partners. - Communicating back to trading partners on the shipments progress within the warehouse. - Notifying trading partners of the shipment content when it leaves the dock. - Manifesting shipments to third party manifest systems prior to ship confirm. 6 Task Flow Communicate Shipping Messages and Updates with Trading Partners Task flow: Receive Shipment Requests (Web Service & ESS Job) The task flow starts with the trading partners sending shipment requests. Shipment requests contain the information on the demand to be shipped, they can be sent for creation, updates or cancellation. As a result of the process shipment lines are updated accordingly. Note : The Receive Shipment Request web service supports a synchronous mode and an asynchronous (Batch) mode, as in Fusion V1, Distributed Order Orchestration (DOO) is integrated through the synchronous mode 2) Manage Shipment Message Interface (ADFdi UI) The Manage Shipment Message Interface ADFdi is used to display the errors encountered when shipments requests were processed using the asynchronous mode. The shipping agent accesses this UI to review any encountered error (missing reference data or changes to be made to shipment status). Upon resolution of the issues the UI can be called again to launch reprocessing of the erroneous transactions 3) Send Intermediate Shipping Status Update (Concurrent program) Send Intermediate Shipping Status Update consists in communicating to the trading partner the shipments progress in the warehouse. Two statuses: demand is staged or backordered are communicated to the trading partners along with the quantity details. Typically, the Send Intermediate Shipping Status Update concurrent program will be scheduled to run periodically (such as every hours) 4) Send Manifest Request (User action or concurrent program) Once the shipment is ready to ship and if the organization and carrier are “manifesting enabled” the manifest request can be sent to the carrier manifesting system. It can be a manual action of the shipping agent against the shipment or it can be automated through the usage of the Send Manifest Request concurrent program. 5) Receive Manifest Response (Web service) Receive receipt advice consists of the carrier manifesting system sending the manifesting response including freight costs and tracking numbers applied to the shipment. The information is used to update the shipment details, the shipment is then automatically ship confirmed based on this event. Note that the Receive Manifest Response web service supports only the synchronous mode 6) Send Shipment Advice and ASN (Ship Confirm user action or concurrent program) The final step of the flow is the shipping agent ship confirming and closing the shipment, this action triggers sending the shipment advice to the trading partner and the ASN (Advance Ship Notice) to the end customer notifying them of the shipment content details. 7 Job Roles & Associated Duty Roles
Shipping Manager / Shipping Agent / Warehouse Manager Shipment Processing Duty Shipping Manager / Warehouse Manager Job Roles & Associated Duty Roles Job roles are roles associated with the job of an employee. For example, an employee with the Job Role ‘Shipping Manager’ can perform job functions or job duties such as recording shipping costs or manage shipments. The association of the duty role to the job role defines those duties that the job role can perform. Shipment Processing duty allows managing shipments in Fusion Applications. Both Shipping Agent and Shipping Manager roles are pre seeded with Shipment Processing duty. NOTE: Duty Roles listed here are related to this specific activity and do not necessarily encompass all the duty roles defined for this job role. Copyright © 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. Receive Shipment Request Send Intermediate Shipment Status Update Send Shipment Advice Send Manifest Request Receive Manifest Response Shipment Management Duty Manage Shipment Message Interface Duty Roles & Tasks Duty roles represent a grouping of tasks one must do on a job. These are the responsibilities one has for a Job. A duty role is assigned to a job role. The duty role consists of various tasks a user will perform. For example, the duty role Shipment Processing Duty enables the user to perform tasks such as Manage Shipments, Monitor Shipments Work Area etc. In Shipping, the duty role Shipment Processing Duty is provisioned to the Shipping Agent and Shipping Manager job role. NOTE: Task(s) listed here are related to this specific activity and do not necessarily encompass all the tasks for this defined duty role. Copyright © 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. 10 Third Party Dependencies/Interactions
ADFdi user interface desktop integration is available for Communicate Shipping Messages and Updates with Trading Partners using excel spreadsheet Third Party Dependencies/Interactions Communicate Shipping Messages and Updates with Trading Partners ADFdi (Application Development Framework Desktop Integration) user interface provides the ability to load shipping lines via spreadsheet. Communicate Shipping Messages and Updates with Trading Partners ADFdi is available from Shipments Work Area. The Manage Shipment Message Interface would be used when users need to import shipping data via spreadsheet. There are several ways import can be handled: Shipping data is imported by entering the data into an ADFdi-enabled spreadsheet and Uploading that data (via ADFdi’s feature set) to a Fusion Application. Shipping data is imported by copying and pasting data into an ADFdi worksheet, and then uploading the data into a Fusion Application.  Shipping data is imported using Excel’s native ‘import’ feature into a blank worksheet, and then copy and paste into a ADFdi worksheet, from a .csv or .xml file. ADFdi software requirements details: Microsoft Excel 2007 Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for the Microsoft Office ((version 3.0 Runtime) Service Pack 1 (x86)) Oracle ADF Desktop Integration client framework (Oracle ADF 11g Desktop Integration) Copyright © 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. 11 Third Party Dependencies/Interactions
Third party Carrier Manifesting Software Out-of-the box Integration for Manifesting Multiple carrier compliant manifesting system XML messaging and /or web services Integration points: Receiving Manifest Requests (Inbound from Shipping) Sending Manifest Responses (Outbound to Shipping) Carrier Manifesting integration: Oracle’s Manifest Integration enables to integrate with manifest partner applications. The integration allows shipment information to be communicated between Shipping and the manifest partner application. The integration uses XML messaging and/or web service to send and receive shipment information between Shipping and the manifest partner application. A shipment request message is sent to the manifest partner application communicating the necessary details to process the shipment. Once the shipment has been processed, a manifest response message is sent from the manifest partner application to update the shipments attributes. Copyright © 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates. Another example is logging of a shipping exception if the quantity of a packed shipment line is updated. Multiple other change operations can be performed, including applying or releasing order holds or un-scheduling re-scheduling lines within shipping Cancellation: Cancellation can be transmitted for the whole order or for individual lines 2 Create Update / Demand Create Pick Wave Ship Confirm Copyright © 2011, Oracle and/or its affiliates.
