2 2012-13 Transition Year for Rotary Grants  Last year under current system  Preparation for Future Vision  District will provide training and other assistance

3 District Matching Funds (DDF)  From The Rotary Foundation (TRF)  Process continues under Future Vision  Based on District’s giving 3 years before  DDF for District Simplified Grants  DDF for Matching Grants

4 Current Rotary Grants  District Simplified Grants Local short-term projects $39,449 DDF available  Matching Grants International service projects Rotary partner in project country $88,000 DDF available

5 District Simplified Grants  Direct Rotarian Involvement  Local projects  Projects completed within 12 months  Simple Application ASAP after July 1  First come first served funding  Approved by District

6 District Simplified Grants Reporting  Report due by May 31  If project unfinished, interim reports every 2 months thereafter  Final report 2 months after completion  Must include complete receipts  No new grants if reporting delinquent

7 DDF for District Simplified Grants  $2,500 maximum DDF for each Club  Maximum per project: $2,500 if one Club; $3,500 if two Clubs, and $4,000 for three or more Clubs  No additional match from TRF

8 Matching Grants  Direct Rotarian Involvement  International project  Partner with Host Rotary Club (not FV)  Application after July 1  First come first served funding  District reviews; TRF approves  Final report 2 months after completion

9 DDF for Matching Grants  $10,000 maximum DDF for each Club  Maximum per project: $4,000 if one Club; $2,000 for each additional Club $16,000 maximum  First come/first served basis  Match from TRF: up to 3 ½ club contributions

10 Key Elements for all Grants  Active Rotarian involvement  Reporting up to date  DDF and matching  Project benefits an underserved population  Responds to community needs  No conflicts of interest

13 Important Changes Clubs qualify to sponsor a grant District is adding training to assist Clubs Specific Grant management and reporting procedures required Proposal submitted in advance Scholarships and Vocational Teams are now Grants

14 Most Important Change:Timing Club must qualify in year prior to project year Proposal required well in advance of project Consult with District Grants rep during proposal process

15 What’s Different with District Grants? Local or international projects Proposal required for all projects Start submitting proposals Aug. 15, 2012 Proposal does not guarantee grant award Project funding starting on July 1, 2013

19 What’s Different with Global Grants? Sponsor Club must be qualified Specific Area of Focus Needs Assessment Multi-aspect projects Sustainable and measureable Minimum $35,000 project Proposals submitted spring 2013

21 Global Grant Proposal Host and International Clubs Identify community needs Describe activities and outcomes Connect project to an area of focus Club funding/DDF requested General budget Reviewed by District Grants Committee

22 DDF for Global Grants  $10,000 maximum DDF for each Club  Maximum per project: $10,000 if one Club; $10,000 if one Club; $12,500 if two Clubs, and $12,500 if two Clubs, and $15,000 for three or more Clubs $15,000 for three or more Clubs

23 Global Grant Application Detailed plan and budget How Rotarians will be involved How activity is sustainable 3 ½ to 1 match Minimum $35,000 project Reports include evaluation and learnings
