2 As Academic Leader for Year 10, I have an overview of the academic progress of the year group. My Role As Academic Leader for Year 10, I have an overview of the academic progress of the year group. Work alongside the tutor team and subject teachers to support students. If a student needs support across several subjects, I can provide guidance.

3 Useful tips for students Be organised. For some subjects, you will sit your exam(s) at the end of a 2 year course. Therefore, it is essential that your notes are organised. Begin revision early and plan your time carefully. Be proactive and independent. If you haven't got homework for a subject, use the Home Learning Resources to further your understanding. Speak to your subject teachers if you need further clarification and support. Use feedback from assessed work; it is designed to help you to progress further.

4 At Malmesbury School, we give students aspirational target grades in order to strive for excellence and to fulfil an individual’s potential. Therefore, if on a report it indicates that your attainment ‘needs improvement’, this should be seen as an opportunity to speak to your teacher to ascertain how you can progress further. Make use of the school’s Parents’ Consultation Evenings to discuss subject specific issues. Further Support:

5 We have compiled a KS4 Home Learning Resource pack detailing a range of sources that can be used to support learning in school. This resource provides a variety of sources to suit different learning styles. Both students and parents can use the resource as a starting point for further study. 7 Further Support: The Home Learning Resource For Computer Programming, there a range of sources including textbook recommendations, websites and links to past papers.

8 If you have concerns about a specific subject, make an appointment to see the subject teacher at one of the Parents’ Consultation evenings. Academic Support A Summary Speak to your tutor and subject teachers if you need further support. Use the Home Learning Resource as a way of furthering your studies – access from website.

9 Remember that, despite changes, many aspects of your GCSE remain the same as previous years. You will still have support from subject teachers, feedback on your work and opportunities to complete mock exams in preparation for your GCSE qualifications. Finally…
