Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6 Cause to Be Troubled More Cause Not to Be Troubled

Cause to Be Troubled  Jesus Himself was troubled – John 13:21.  Our passions cause us to be troubled.  Evil exists, troubles come, death is an enemy.  Romans 8:28 is often misrepresented. Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

Romans 8:28 (NASB) 28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.

Cause to Be Troubled  Jesus Himself was troubled – John 13:21.  Our passions cause us to be troubled.  Evil exists, troubles come, death is an enemy.  Romans 8:28 is often misrepresented.  Jesus’ message is beginning to sink in.  Did the disciples have cause to be troubled?  Romans 12:15 tells us it is OK to be troubled. Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

Romans 12:15 (NASB) 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.

More Cause Not to Be Troubled  Christians should be realists about our problems and the problems of this world.  Christians should also be realists about the power of God!  There are six reasons to have more cause not to be troubled than to be troubled. Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

More Cause Not to Be Troubled 1. We know Jesus; He is God.  He knows about us and our circumstances.  Jesus is able to deal with those circumstances.  Therefore, we have every reason to trust Him.  “Trust in God; trust also in Me.”  Jesus says He knows that they trust in God, and now He is saying trust Him too, in the same way. Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

More Cause Not to Be Troubled 2. There is a home prepared for us in heaven.  This is not to be used as escapism.  Although we long to be with God in heaven, we still have a calling here in this world for the sake of the Kingdom.  For this reason, we are motivated to serve God where He has us, and this is our destiny or light at the end of the tunnel.  Philippians 3:17, 20 and 1 John 3:2-3 Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

Philippians 3:17, 20 (NASB) 17 Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us 20 For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ;

1 John 2:2-3 (NASB) 2 and He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world. 3 By this we know that we have come to know Him, if we keep His commandments.

More Cause Not to Be Troubled 3. Jesus is preparing a personal dwelling place for us.  Jesus is preparing a place but ….  The focus is on you … which makes it personal. 4. Jesus is returning again for us.  “I will come back” – you can count on it!  1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 (NASB) 13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. 15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.

16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

More Cause Not to Be Troubled 5. After Jesus’ return, we will be with Him forever!  They were going to follow Jesus but just not at this time.  We need to learn to be patient and know that God’s timing in everything is perfect! 6. This is God’s plan and our conscious choice! “Let not your hearts be troubled” Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6

Application Is your faith ever increasing? Is your faith ever increasing even in the face of troubles? Are you letting your heart be troubled? Or, are you reminding yourself of these truths and consciously choosing to focus on God’s promises to see you through? Truth About Trouble John 14:1-6
