2. Bell Ringer  How would you define “progress?”  What are some examples of social progress we have made in the history of the US?  What would you identify as things the US still needs to make progress on?

3. The PROGRESSIVE ERA  This was a time period in American history where many groups of people stood up to issues of inequality and injustice through individual and group action.  This time period overlapped with the Gilded Age and Industrialization

5. A Look at the issues!  Companies during the Industrial Era needed to keep costs LOW and profits HIGH.  Large monopolistic companies and too much power in the trusts

6. Muck Raking  The Muckrakers were the investigative journalists of their day.  Exposing evil became a flourishing business.
