4 Why Social Enterprise A best value review resulted in the Probation Trust deciding to cease direct delivery of ETE services and employment of staff when current external funding ceased Considered alternative models of delivery – limited interest of existing local market without secure funding ETE management and staff encouraged to develop social enterprise approach Social Enterprise provided a model where we could retain ethos and values within sustainable business model

5 Active Inclusion to Mainstreaming Developing the Business Case AIM, through partner BES, provided support for feasibility study model and reported back to Trust Board ETE management and team invited to develop business plan – hard decisions (pensions, pay, security etc.) Due diligence on business plan undertaken by Grant Thornton Trust Board agreed to transfer existing contracts and provide (limited) financial support

6 Active Inclusion to Mainstreaming Up and Running Business transfer and service level agreements established – UP and running from 2 nd April 2012 Four staff transferred with further casual staff offered employment – (Currently employ 12 staff) New contracts secured and staff engaged Now employing former service users Secured Social Enterprise Mark Secured Matrix Quality Standard (21 st June)
