3  Animism is considered a tribal religion, and each group of families, known as a CLAN, identified with a particular animal.  The family would never harm or eat that particular animal OVERVIEW OF ANIMISM

4  In Sub-Saharan Africa, many tribes believed that animals, plants, and places had their own spirits. EXAMPLES

5  In many Native American cultures, their Medicine Men would make contact with the spirit world to help facilitate healing. EXAMPLES

6  In ancient Japan, people believed that spirits, also called KAMI, existed in nature. This nature belief led to another religion called SHINTOISM. EXAMPLES
