10. Current Challenges 1)Forest Hills is currently over capacity. 2)Half of the immersion students are out of district. 3)The non-immersion population is also increasing at Forest Hills. There are four non-immersion Kindergarten classes. 4)There are two technology magnet schools in the district; only one is needed. 5)Decreasing enrollment at Gregory. 6)Many of the once-unique technology programs at Gregory are now available at traditional elementary schools.

11. Rationale for Transitioning Program From Forest Hills to Gregory 1)Interest in Dual Immersion is growing – local, state and national. 2)Moving the program to Gregory would allow for expansion – increase student population and encourage enrollment from throughout the district. Transportation would be provided for students. 3)The move would enable NHCS to grow the Dual Immersion program into middle school, offering Grades 6-8 through partnership with Williston. 4)Additional space at Gregory would open the opportunity to include an additional language track. 5)The proposed K-8 model would be much more sustainable long term, as it would reach the scale of sustainability through regular school allocations and any additional funds allocated to the program could support enhancements and not just core programming.
