1 Developing Areas to Integrated Services - Information Sharing and Community Involvement SECAD Community Workshop 29.11.2012 Dympna Murphy Community & Enterprise Development Officer

2 Background In 2009 the Cork County Development Board established the Developing Areas Interagency Group representing: GardaíFAS Avondhu/BlackwaterHSE C&V ForumSECAD Childcare CommitteeCCC Dept. of Social Protection

3 Aims To oversee the preparation of an Integrated Development Strategy for the Developing Areas in Co. Cork. Developing Areas defined by Government as locations where strategically important and rapid development is occurring or is planned.

5 Research Extensive research was carried out on the extent of service co-ordination and prioritisation of these areas by agencies and a report was produced entitled ‘Integrated Development Strategy for Developing Areas in Co. Cork’

6 Findings That the forward planning procedures of agencies highlight differing policy creation structures with little experience of inter- or intra- working methods. That there was no formal prioritisation of Developing Areas by other agencies.

7 Recommendations The Interagency group and CDB agreed best way forward was to establish a system to facilitate information gathering from agencies to facilitate co-ordinated forward planning between agencies and to expand project outside Developing Areas to entire county.

8 Actions In November 2011 a conference was held to explore the challenges and solutions – Recommendation to set up a website which would map existing services and provide information on future provision of services around the County. Overall objectives – co-ordinated forward planning and better co-ordination in community consultation practices.

9 Actions Interagency Group now become the steering group to oversee and monitor the website with ongoing management provided by Cork County Council to tie in with County Development plan.

10 Actions Seminar in September 2012– The role of Data Sharing Co-ordination and Planning for Community Services Provision. Explored websites options – Fingal Data Hub and myplan.ie. Interagnecy Group agreed that myplan.ie most suitable.

13 Overall 1.Cork County Council to lead and manage site. 2.Planning Policy Unit - CDP 3.DoELG website myplan.ie should act as a base for any site that is being developed. 4.Interagency Group maintain a steering role to ensure needs of communities and agencies are met.

14 Next Steps 1.Agreement with agencies on what website should contain. 2.Discussions with DoELG on website. 3.Protocol for agencies to formalise role of each representative on group. 4.Report prepared for IT Department. 5.Report prepared by PPU on how website will be run and managed and fit with CDP.
