Cold = molecules slower, closer together (contract); denser (heavier), sinks Hot/Warm = molecules faster, farther apart (expands); less dense (lighter), rises

Air Pressure Notes Pressure (P): P = F x A
Force (F) = push/pull; Area (A) = L x W = surface Cold = sinks, more dense; high pressure at surface; clear sky, dry, fair (nice) sunny weather. Warm = rises (like a hot air balloon), less dense; low pressure at surface; carries moisture; cloudy; precipitation (rain, snow), bad weather. Instrument: barometer Units: inches, mb Pressure vs. Altitude: Increase altitude ~ decrease pressure Sea level = 1 atmosphere of pressure
