3 General Guidelines Keep the computer in a central location Set time limits for computer use Monitor cell phone use Know the passwords to any online accounts your child has

5 General Guidelines Teach your child that what goes online, stays online Get to know the technology Set a good example Talk with your child regularly about what they see & do online

6 COPPA Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 Web sites cannot collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without parental consent Includes first & last name, address, email address, phone number, Social Security number, and any other identifying information

7 COPPA Many sites do not allow children under 13 to use their services at all Be sure to check the Terms of Service before allowing your child to use the site
