1 Using the Annual Copyright License (ACL) Overview The Chicago School of Professional Psychology has entered into an agreement with Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC)  a not-for-profit organization which provides universities and corporations with rights to reuse copyrighted content, for coverage under its new Annual Copyright License (ACL) for academic Institutions. This license provides faculty, librarians, research and administrative staff, and students with institution-wide coverage for the reuse of text-based content in the license repertory in both print and electronic formats for educational and research purposes. There are close to a million titles included in the license repertory and this list continues to grow at a rapid pace. Examples of types of use covered under the license include: - Coursepacks (print and electronic) - Classroom handouts - Library reserves (print and electronic) - Course management system postings - Intranet and faculty website postings - Internal e-mail - Research collaboration - Administrative photocopying Verifying Coverage Under the License If you have determined that the use of a particular piece of content is not covered under Fair Use, you can quickly and easily check to see if the content is covered under the Annual Copyright License. Details on conducting a Fair Use analysis are available at www.copyright.com/Services/copyrightoncampus/basics/fairuse_rules.html. To verify if a publication is in the license repertory, simply go to www.copyright.com/aclacademic. Here you will see the license interface where you can verify title coverage. Be sure to bookmark this link in your browser. You can search by either Publication Title or ISBN/ISSN and/or Publisher. In the example below, this faculty member entered Journal of Abnormal Child Psychology. Once you have entered the publication title, click the blue Search button. Note: When searching by title be sure to enter the Publication Title, not the title of the article or chapter.www.copyright.com/Services/copyrightoncampus/basics/fairuse_rules.htmlwww.copyright.com/aclacademic (continued)

2 The Search Results below show that this publication is Covered by CCC Annual License – Academic. From this point no further action is necessary. You are free to use the content in your course materials within the scope of the license and do not need to check this title again for the duration of The Chicago School of Professional Psychology’s license agreement with CCC. Please contact your library or your CCC representative if you have any questions regarding the license terms. In the event the Search Results indicate that a publication is not covered under the license, there are other permission service options offered by CCC. Just click on the yellow More permissions options button to access CCC’s pay-per-use services. Please be sure to check with your library before making any purchases.
