3 Purpose of the awards Demonstrates BU’s commitment to valuing education based on a fusion with research and professional practice and to encourage the widest dissemination of these activities Sits within the context of the UKPSF, recognises local success and talent and provides motivation for award holders to apply for external recognition

4 Awards aim to Recognise and celebrate excellent achievement in the support of student learning through Fusion Improve the quality of the student learning experience through the dissemination of good practice Promote a culture of scholarship and reflective practice Increase the number of publishable outcomes from pedagogic activity and research

5 The award Competitive 5-6 awards of £2k each Rebalanced workload to enable Fellow to engage in pedagogic research, activities or evaluation Further development of innovative practice and dissemination Will be recognised as part of an individual’s outputs for the year through discussion between Fellow and their line manager

6 What’s in it for me? Experience of current Fellow

7 Award criteria The award panel will be looking for: -Evidence of your individual expertise in promoting and enhancing the student learning experience -Evidence of supporting your colleagues and positively influencing the student learning experience within your Faculty or Professional Service -Evidence of your potential to make a positive contribution to the student learning experience beyond your Faculty or Professional Service -Evidence of your commitment to your ongoing professional development in supporting student learning in your discipline or professional area

8 Areas of practice Might include: Planning and delivery Assessment Contribution to the profession Reflection and evaluation An education innovation that addresses an issue you have identified Always be thinking about impact and how you can develop the work identified in your claim within BU and externally Emphasis is on sharing and disseminating your excellent education/fusion practice to a wider audience

9 Your application A claim for fellowship based on an area of practice which demonstrates your teaching/professional excellence (up to 3000 words) -Description of an area of practice which highlights what has been achieved and how and why it was undertaken -An overview of what has been learnt which could be utilised and disseminated -An outline on where or how they might want to take this further -An assessment made of the impact this might have on improving the student experience

10 Procedure Application information and form available from https:\\microsites.bournemouth.ac.uk/cel/ Applications using the format provided in the application form by email to ckeenan@bournemouth.ac.uk ckeenan@bournemouth.ac.uk Deadline: 17.00hrs on 16 November 2015 Applications that exceed the word count will not be considered Applications will be considered by a panel chaired by Prof Gail Thomas during the following week Endorsement for successful applicants will be sought from appropriate Dean or Head of Professional Service
