4 4-H Educational Philosophy The “Learning By Doing” philosophy of 4-H emphasizes the importance of involving members in the learning process.  Learn group cooperation  Develop leadership skills  Improve citizenship  Gain knowledge  Develop skills  Have fun

5 The 4-H Motto The 4-H motto is “To Make The Best Better.” It emphasizes the aim of each member in improving project work and in building better clubs and communities.

6 4-H Colors & Emblem The 4-H colors are Green and White. The 4-H emblem is a Green Four-leaf Clover. The green four-leaf clover has a white “H” on each leaf to represent one of the four H’s- Head, Heart, Hands, and Health.

7 Types of 4-H Membership Organized 4-H Club Special Interest School Enrichment All aim to get 4-H members actively involved in Learning!

8 Organized 4-H Club 1. May be single project clubs, multi-project (community) clubs or family clubs. 2. Has Officers 3. Meets regularly over an extended period of time. 4. Variety of learning activities 5. Has planned yearly program

9 Special Interest 1. Focused on a specific learning experience 2.Usually organized by Extension

10 School Enrichment 1. Organized around one particular subject area. 2. Coordinated by Extension in cooperation with school officials. 3. Part of school curriculum.
