11 How to Promote the Project and Reach the Funding Goal? AAI facebook: the most utilized tool We made a picture describing the project and made it as AAI’s facebook profile picture. All the interns made the same change to their profile pictures On 2 August, all the interns created a fundraising event from their own facebook account, and invited all their friends to join. The above method proved to be ineffective in terms of getting people’s interests and donations. Throughout the campaign, we posted updates on AAI facebook with statistics of donations received, No. of donors. In order to get a bonus of 300USD awarded to the top five projects with the most Facebook shares, AAI Facebook network, especially the interns worked hard to share the project on their friends’ walls.

12 How to Promote the Project and Reach the Funding Goal? –Other Strategies Mr.Santoli worked very hard to get donations from AAI board members and his friends from the beginning of the Campaign. Interns also contacted their family members, professors, and friends for donations. Because of established relationships, this proved to be the most effective and efficient way to get the fundraising going. The next approached adopted was to contact former interns. Out of 100 or so interns, about 10 of them responded to the email and made contributions. Practically speaking, it was successful!

14 Lessons Learned and Suggestions Do not waste money on printing cards if there is no clear targets for donations. Do not Pictures : try to use pictures that focuses on particular individual and has direct eye-contact with the audience. Pictures : Upload some pictures showing office activities related to the project. For instance: after reaching a goal of $1000, team members can take a picture with a thank you sign to show appreciation to all donors. Reach out to specific individuals Ask him or her to write a blog entry Ask him or her to to write a message on your facebook page
