3 War Protest Song Assignment Why is he trying to say about this particular point? The poor were those who were fighting the “rich” man’s war. Theme of the Song What is the songwriter trying to say about that subject? There was unfair drafting practices, the rich and those with connections were excluded from the draft. What makes this song different from other protest songs? It is not so much about protesting the war but more about protesting the draft and the privileges of the rich. What is its subject? The Draft Create a statement that embodies the theme or message of the song.
